Svensk man greps på Phuket med 972 dagars overstay och kommer nu att utvisas till Sverige.
Apart from allegedly threatening to kill his landlord, a Swedish man has been arrested in Phuket for overstaying his visa. The incident came to light after a Phuket resident posted about the Swede’s behaviour on the “Phuket Residents Seek Help” Facebook page.
It all started with the home-owner evicting the Swede which was responded with a threat to ‘kill’ the landlord.
Immigration police investigated the report on the Facebook page and identified the rental property. On May 22, immigration and tourist police headed to the area and spotted the suspect, identified as 33 year old Francesco, driving into a property off Sai Yuan in Rawai.
When officers approached him, he initially refused to get out of his car which also had a small dog inside. After some persuasion he eventually complied but wasn’t able to find his passport. So the officials took him to Phuket Immigration for further questions.
The investigation revealed that Francesco had entered Thailand back on February 12, 2020, with 90 Non-B (business) visa. The visa allowed him to stay until September 23, 2021. At the time of the story he had overstayed his visa by 972 days, just over 2 and half years.
Francesco was arrested for overstaying and the case was referred to Chalong Police. Phuket-Go predicts he will be deported back to Sweden.
