Pattaya: Beach washes away yet again after three hours of torrential rain

Sanook reported that many parts of Pattaya beach from North to South were washed away after three hours of heavy rain hit the resort,
City Hall had to move in the heavy equipment to tackle the problem especially in the area of the pumping station near Soi 6 where there was also a lot of litter.
Deckchair vendors had begged the authorities for speedy action and were reportedly happy after mayor Sontaya Khunpluem quickly sent in deputy Ronnakit Ekkasingh and his tractors.
The problem of beach erosion is an ongoing topic in Pattaya.

Hundreds of millions of baht has been spent on widening the beach and bringing in new sand.
But almost every time there is heavy rain there are more problems.
Now there are plans to spend hundreds of thousands more baht on Jomtien and other beaches over the next few years.
It remains to be seen if work there is any better, notes Thaivisa.
