BREAKING: A boat has sunk off the coast of Chon Buri, with rescuers saving 13 people so far and seven others still missing.
Authorities said the vessel was hit by a storm and strong waves and went down at sea, about four hours out from the Chong Samae San channel in Sattahip district, Chon Buri.
Early checks suggested around 20 crew were on board. So far about 13 have been rescued safely, while seven are reported missing after being swept away by the current.
The Royal Thai Navy's First Naval Area Command, along with local fishing communities around Chong Samae San, has scrambled boats to search the area and is racing against time in rough seas. Rescuers are currently making their way back to shore.
