08 Oct 2026

IMG_0595.webp

The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has warned 23 provinces and three Bangkok districts of the risk of flooding, flash floods, forest runoffs and mudslides from October 10 through 12.

Based on forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department and the Hydro-Informatics Institute, along with flood and mudslide risk assessments, the ONWR identified areas requiring close monitoring.

The areas at risk are:

Central: Bangkok – Nong Khaem, Bang Khae and Bang Bon districts; Samut Sakhon

· North: Nan

· East: Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat

· West: Samut Songkhram, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan

· South: Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Phatthalung, Satun, Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat

· The ONWR also called for close monitoring of large reservoirs holding more than 80% of their storage capacity.

The office also warned of the possible overflowing of major rivers and tributaries, as well as flooding in low-lying areas, including in Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo and Chanthaburi.

Relevant agencies have been urged to prepare for the expected heavy rainfall and coordinate water management from upstream to downstream.

Floods still hit 20 provinces and Bangkok, affecting 2.45m people

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2026

Flooding remains in 20 provinces and Bangkok, affecting 906,083 households and 2.45 million people as authorities accelerate drainage, relief and recovery work.

Flooding remained across 20 provinces and Bangkok on Tuesday (October 13), affecting more than 2.45 million people, although water levels were beginning to recede in many areas, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).

As of 6am, floods covered 99 districts, 804 subdistricts and 6,037 villages, affecting 906,083 households and 2,451,860 people.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall, combined with runoff flowing from the North into the Central region, continued to put pressure on communities, while the DDPM deployed pumps, machinery and relief teams and began rehabilitation work where floodwaters had subsided.

DDPM Director-General Nirat Phongsittithaworn said authorities were continuing to assist communities while accelerating drainage and recovery.

The affected provinces are Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao and Chonburi, as well as Bangkok.

Northern floodwaters continue to recede

In Phitsanulok, flooding remained in Bang Rakam district, covering three subdistricts and five villages and affecting 65 households. Water levels were falling.

Nakhon Sawan continued to report flooding in nine districts, covering 77 subdistricts and 491 villages. A total of 5,333 households remained affected, with water levels continuing to decline.

Bangkok and Central region bear largest impact

Bangkok remained one of the worst-affected areas, with 329,000 households impacted and four deaths reported. Water levels were gradually declining.

Pathum Thani recorded the largest provincial household impact, with flooding across all seven districts affecting 248,818 households. Two deaths were reported.

Ayutthaya remained flooded across all 16 districts, covering 205 subdistricts and 1,360 villages. The province reported 68,401 affected households and one death.

Suphan Buri had 20,369 affected households across eight districts and reported five deaths, while Nakhon Pathom recorded 21,488 affected households in Bang Len and Sam Phran districts.

Samut Songkhram reported 15,870 affected households and two deaths, while Ratchaburi had 11,689 affected households.

Chai Nat recorded 4,624 affected households across three districts. Samut Prakan reported 3,980 affected households in Bang Sao Thong and Bang Bo districts, with nine deaths.

Ang Thong had 2,765 affected households, Sing Buri 1,807, Lop Buri 1,177 and Uthai Thani 1,080. Sing Buri reported two deaths.

Phetchaburi recorded 418 affected households across five districts, while Kanchanaburi had 227 affected households across four districts and reported two deaths.

Prachin Buri remains hardest hit in East

Prachin Buri remained the most severely affected eastern province, with flooding in seven districts covering 65 subdistricts and 691 villages.

A total of 59,727 households were affected, with 24 deaths reported, the highest toll among the areas listed in the DDPM data.

Chachoengsao recorded 54,729 affected households across eight districts and four deaths, while Nakhon Nayok reported 53,490 households affected across all four districts and four deaths.

Chonburi continued to experience flooding in Phanat Nikhom and Phan Thong districts, affecting 1,026 households.

DDPM maintains round-the-clock response

The DDPM said it was continuing to monitor conditions around the clock and had instructed provincial offices and regional disaster prevention and mitigation centres to accelerate assistance.

Personnel, pumps and disaster-response machinery are being deployed to drain flooded communities and agricultural areas, while food, drinking water, relief bags and other essential supplies are being delivered to areas where water remains high.

Authorities are also coordinating with local administrative organisations and other agencies to assess damage to homes, public infrastructure and farmland as soon as water levels allow.

Information on affected households is being compiled to speed up compensation and other assistance under Finance Ministry regulations and relevant relief criteria.

The DDPM said rehabilitation would continue alongside emergency operations, with the aim of restoring affected communities and allowing residents to return to normal life as safely and quickly as possible.

Sriracha floods after two hours of heavy rain, high tide slows drainage

By Pattaya Mail October 15, 2026

Pattaya-7-Sriracha-floods-after-two-hours-of-heavy-rain-high-tide-slows-drainage-copy.jpg
Sriracha roads flooded after more than two hours of heavy rain, with high tides slowing drainage and leaving motorists to navigate waterlogged sections of Na Koh Loi Road and Kao Kilo Road.

SRIRACHA, Thailand – More than two hours of heavy rain flooded roads in Sriracha, Chonburi, on October 14, leaving sections of Na Koh Loi Road and Kao Kilo Road under standing water as high tides hampered drainage.

The downpour caused water to accumulate on road surfaces in parts of Sriracha and Surasak subdistricts, disrupting traffic and making conditions particularly difficult for motorcyclists.

The high tide compounded the situation, slowing the flow of floodwater and prolonging the wait for roads to drain. Motorcyclists faced increased risks of accidents and engine failure while attempting to pass through flooded sections.

Sriracha Municipality officials deployed staff to affected areas to direct traffic, warn motorists and discourage drivers from entering flood-prone stretches. Road users were advised to slow down, exercise caution and avoid the affected routes unless necessary. Officials urged motorists to monitor conditions closely while drainage operations continued.

Mmm, det är en bra sås.

Men jag använder bara den amerikanske starkare varianten som inte är så söt.

Back to topic.det verkar varit rätt lokala regn häromdagen, jomtien verkar ha klart sig.

Numer finns det thailändska kopior av amerikanska Huy Fong Foods "rooster sauce", som i sin tur är en slags kopia av thailändska Sriraja Panich. :p

Government to start building Chainat-Pasak-Gulf water diversion canal next year

19 Oct 2026

IMG_0631.webp

The government plans to launch a long-term mega-infrastructure project in fiscal year 2027 to divert water from the Chao Phraya River through Chainat and the Pasak River directly into the Gulf of Thailand, aiming to address recurrent central plains flooding.

The "Chainat-Pasak-Gulf" water diversion initiative, approved by the Cabinet, is expected to take seven years to complete. Designed as a permanent structural solution, the canal will significantly reduce water flow toward Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, and Bangkok during peak flood seasons before discharging into the Gulf of Thailand.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasised that the state spends 40 billion to 50 billion baht annually on short-term relief, including fuel, electricity for water pumps, and victim compensation.

He noted it is time to invest in a major long-term project to reduce future damages and fiscal burdens, adding he is unconcerned by critics labeling him "Mister Project."

During a field visit to Suphan Buri province alongside Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, the Prime Minister inspected the Song Phinong sluice gate under the Pho Phraya project.

He instructed officials to expand drainage capacity into the Tha Chin River and swiftly remove water hyacinths blocking waterways.

Addressing flood relief funding, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Director-General Nirat Pongsitthithavorn clarified that emergency disaster funds are drawn from the central budget rather than individual ministry allocations.

The government recently released an initial 4.7 billion baht from the fiscal 2026 central fund to accelerate compensation payments to affected households nationwide.
